| blood diamond. good story. good acting. good script. great soundtrack (that is what you're listening to).
movies like this, though probably dramatized by the nature of the film-making industry, can really bring you down to earth in some sense, even if it's a world you don't recognize.
all my life i have been taught to strive for achievements such as financial independence, a professional career, good health, and family, but is this it? if our parents could leave their family, friends, and first language to travel across the globe with a scholarship, a suitcase, and $200 in their pockets and "make it", shouldn't we be able to do something just as significant given all the opportunities we've been brought up with, if not more? im feeling embarassed that our parents were able to achieve so much and from that, we've been able to accomplish so little. there has got to be something more to life than simply careers, restaurants, skyrises, and vacations. maybe i'm in the wrong generation ..
and with that, i leave you with this link. www.vanessawithoutborders.com
